Each Nabeshima color painting Karakamon tea bowl is delicately painted by a craftsman, and the pattern on the saucer is reflected on the side of the cup.

The dodecagonal edged shape makes the overall thickness of the fabric thin and warps outward to improve the mouthfeel. You can enjoy not only tea but also other hot drinks such as coffee.

[About karahana pattern]

The karahana pattern is a flower pattern that was popular in China during the Tang dynasty, and was used in Japan during the Nara period due to its influence. It is a splendid pattern that combines several kinds of plant motifs such as lotus, palmetto, and peony.

The design consists of a lotus flower and peonies in the center of the design, surrounded by double and triple wreaths with fan-shaped lateral flower patterns connected by arcs. It is characterized by the fact that it spreads concentrically in multiple layers from the center toward the outside. Since ancient times, it has been mainly used as a pattern for weft brocade.

Nabeshima Style

The aesthetic beauty of Nabeshima ware has been carefully preserved as a traditional rule since the Edo period, and the design is composed of one color of dyeing (blue) and three colors of red painting (red, yellow, green).

The extremely fine and carefully drawn lines are expressed with pale gradations layered over and over again, creating a dignified dignity.

The traditional Nabeshima pattern that was presented as a gift is a gorgeous design that allows you to feel the elegance of ancient Japan.
