The petals of the plum blossoms are painted with a thick layer of white paint to create a three-dimensional effect, and the dots around them are drawn by hand using five different colors.
The three-dimensional plum painting has a very soft atmosphere, and the comfort when you touch it will soften your heart.
Plum blossoms are called "Hundred Flower Sakigake" and have been revered in China since ancient times. The fragrant appearance of blooming in the still cold season is superimposed on the ideal way of life for people who work hard and bear fruit even in harsh circumstances. It was introduced to Japan around the 8th century, and the aristocrats of the time loved this exotic plant.
Yushima Tenjin Shrine, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, and Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine still use plums as their divine crest, and this originates from Sugawara no Michizane, a court noble and scholar in the Heian period, who liked plums.
As the times progressed, it came to be widely used in crafts, clothing, architecture, etc. as a pattern that signals the arrival of spring. Along with evergreen pine and snow-resistant bamboo, plum blossoms, which bloom in early spring with their fragrant fragrance, are known as one of the three friends of the cold season, and were favored by people in the Edo period who valued good luck.
